UKMT - JMC (Junior Maths Challenge) 30th April 2020 UPDATED
My year 7 daughter has begun her 12 week countdown to the UKMT (UK Maths Trust) JMC (Junior Maths Challenge), which takes place on the 30th April 2020. The JMC is mostly sat by year 7-8 students, however some bright year 5 & 6 students are also able to sit the challenge.
This year she's decided to use only past papers, which has meant I spent part of last week printing papers & answers to create folders (JMC 1999-2019, Kangaroo bonus 1999-2019, Olympiad 1999-2019 and IMC 1999-2019 papers). She used the IMC (Intermediate - year 11) book for her year 6, Kangaroo bonus round practice last year, scoring 112/135.
She has already spent the last couple of months, working her way through the UKMT Junior Problems book (500 past questions), 2017, 2018 and 2019 past paper, so it should be a relatively straightforward 12 week countdown.
If anyone would like any half term (15-18th February) or Easter (25th March-9th April & 17th-22nd April) JMC preparation (years 5-8) please let me know.
Please see the Lando Education - UKMT page
UPDATE - if you are interested with in being able to help your son/daughter train for the Primary Maths Challenge, UKMT Junior Maths Challenge or UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge, please email me. I will be adding a Maths Challenge Preparation Programme to my Educational Programmes page in the coming weeks. * (see below)
For all things Maths Problems
The Kangaroo & Olympiad papers take place on the 9th June 2020.
For any schools that allow pupils to sit the JMC early, in years 5-6, the results will be written in your child's school report, for use at 11+ or 13+ entrance exams. Very important, especially if you are considering St Paul’s Girls’ School, St Paul’s, Westminster, Latymer Upper, City Boys, City Girls, Godolphin & Latymer, North London Collegiate School etc.
11th July 2020 - Update
My daughter scored 112/135 on the 2020 Junior Maths Challenge. Based on their 2019 results, this would have meant she was invited to sit the Olympiad bonus round (top approx 0.2% - 0.5% of 300,000 students).
Written instructions/timetable, with additional Zoom support (weekly, fortnightly or monthly) if required. Worldwide weekly training lessons are also available via Zoom.
